HoopsFest strategy 101: You're beginning to practice together. What do you focus on?
You don't want to get to HoopsFest and make up your strategy as you play. That's a recipe for disaster and will leave you and your teammates frustrated with each other.
Build a strategy! Here are some things to talk through with your teammates:
🏀 Who is your best scorer? Best shooter?
🏀 How do you plan to get them open looks?
🏀 Do you have a go-to action to get a bucket when you need to score?
🏀 Defensively, how do you want to play? Man, zone? Typically 3v3 is played man-on-man.
🏀 Do you want to deny passing lanes and play gap defense?
🏀 How will you defend pick and rolls? Will you switch or fight through picks?
Communication is key to successful 3v3 basketball. Talk with your team BEFORE the tournament so you are on the same page and ready to play.
